Known in the 19th century as a brewing town, Lichfield today is still home to industrial companies such as bathroom ware manufacturer Armitage Shanks and silversmith Arthur Price of England. It’s also a base for commuters to nearby Birmingham. Given its central location, in fact, Lichfield has great transport links. There are two rail stations, serving Birmingham and Redditch, with services to London Euston, Stoke, Stafford and Crewe. Journey times can be as low as 69 minutes to London and just 35 minutes to Birmingham with four trains an hour.
As you’d expect, road connections are also plentiful. The town is just two miles from the M6 Toll, 12 miles from the M42 and 15 miles from the M6. Trunk road connections include the A5 west towards Wales, the A38 south to Birmingham and north-east to Derby, and the A51 connecting Lichfield to Chesterfield and Tamworth.
