Sitting by the A40 Westway in west London, just a few hundred metres west of Paddington station, Royal Oak is a Zone 2 London Underground station served by the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines. It’s just a minute’s journey to Paddington, and 15 minutes to both King's Cross & St Pancras International and Hammersmith.
Although Royal Oak station itself is not part of the London Crossrail scheme, Royal Oak Portal is currently under construction immediately west of the station. This will be the Western tunnel entrance for Crossrail, which will run from Paddington to Canary Wharf and Stratford to the east, and Heathrow Airport and Reading to the west.
By car, taking the A40 westwards allows you to reach the M40 and M25 in just 25 minutes, while J1 of the M1 is a 20 minute drive up the nearby A5.
While Royal Oak station is at the heart of London’s westbound travel links, it’s also very close to several famous London parks. Regent’s Park is a mile and a half to the east, while Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park are less than a mile to the south. Kensal Green Cemetary and Wormwood Scrubs Park are also only a couple of miles to the north-west. Ladbroke Grove is close by, which is why Royal Oak station is a busy transport link for the annual Notting Hill Carnival.
Royal Oak station is right on the doorstep of the thriving creative and media business community centred on Westbourne Park, as well as the picturesque canal-based community of Little Venice. The area is also perfectly placed to benefit from the meteoric rise of Paddington as a business district, and the major redevelopment of Paddington basin as part of the Paddington Waterside scheme.
