Now, Wallsend is a busy area of North Tyneside. North of the High Street, the main shopping area, is the historic and picturesque Wallsend Green. Among its famous alumni is Newcastle United and England footballer Alan Shearer.
Wallsend certainly doesn’t lack business facilities. The Grade II-listed Wallsend Town Hall dates from 1908 and has been refurbished as a modern business hub and conference centre. The area falls under the North East Chamber of Commerce, which offers training, support and networking events.
Newcastle Airport is a 50-minute journey by Metro. Wallsend is just 15 minutes from the coastal town of North Shields, and also six stops from the mainline railway station, a journey of 20 minutes. Connections from there include London, a three-hour journey, and Edinburgh, an hour-and-a-half away.
