Office space in Woolwich
Woolwich has long been recognised as a significant area of London – it was even chosen as the location of the first UK branch of McDonalds! Office Genie’s guide to this Southeast London business hub identifies the benefits of setting up there and how to go about finding that ideal office rental.
Why choose offices in Woolwich?
A modern, progressive town, Woolwich has changed considerably since its days as a naval and military town. It has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years and is now considered to be a representative town for England.
Recent developments in Woolwich have resulted in high street chains opening branches and longer-established shops being refurbished. Meanwhile new offices, housing and local shops have been introduced around the Love Lane area and the regeneration of nearby Powis Street has included the development of new offices above shops.
Woolwich is also a very progressive town in terms of its transport and connections to other areas of London. Since 2009 it has been part of the Docklands Light Railway service; the Woolwich Arsenal station runs services to Canning Town, Stratford International and Bank.
Meanwhile the Woolwich Arsenal mainline station serves the area with trains to London Charring Cross and London Cannon Street. An additional railway station serving Woolwich is scheduled to open in 2018, which will provide the area with faster and more direct access to Central London and onwards to Heathrow Airport.
The town also benefits from being situated just three miles east of Greenwich, a historically rich area of London with lots of green space and a great leisure industry. All of these developments combined contribute to Woolwich being recently identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.
